If you stumbled upon this page, you are wondering who would win a fight Batman or Captain America? But are you aware that there’s actually a comic that will tell you the answer? Well, there is!
Usually, DC and Marvel superheroes remain in their respective worlds of comics. But the crossover miniseries gave readers an opportunity to see this dream battle come true. One pair-up pitted Captain America against Batman – but who would be victorious?
The 1996 crossover event featured considerable contributions from Marvel and DC Comics’ top talent to bring the best of their battles to life. The grand plot of DC vs Marvel was not particularly interesting. The fighting, which occurred between the heroes in both universes, was the protagonist of this series. Essentially there were two characters representing each universe who pitted hero against hero to see which hero would be taken from existence.
Here’s a list of all the fights that have taken place:
- Aquaman (DC) vs. Namor the Sub-Mariner (Marvel)
- Elektra (Marvel) vs. Catwoman (DC)
- The Flash (DC) vs. Quicksilver (Marvel)
- Robin (DC) vs. Jubilee (Marvel)
- The Silver Surfer (Marvel) vs. Green Lantern (DC)
- Thor (Marvel) vs. Captain Marvel (DC)
- Superman (DC) vs. the Hulk (Marvel)
- Spider-Man (Marvel) vs. Superboy (DC)
- Batman (DC) vs. Captain America (Marvel)
- Wolverine (Marvel) vs. Lobo (DC)
- Storm (Marvel) vs. Wonder Woman (DC)
There are a number of big battles contained in this crossover, but perhaps the most intense brawl between Cap and Bats was at their final meeting and what you should know as well is that the readers could vote on the outcome of this epic battle.
The creators of DC & Marvel had taken the sewers of Manhattan as the battleground where the epic fight would take place. To be honest, I was a little disappointed about that place. A rooftop would have been a lot better I believe but hey, who am I? During the fight, Captain America admitted that he had never encountered an adversary who was so evenly matched.
Now the fight lasted for hours as nobody was able to take the upper hand. Steve Rogers threw his shield at Batman, as the water from the sewer knocked him over but he missed his target. The Dark Knight took advantage of this opportunity and threw a batarang at Captain America which was a critical hit. Cap went down and started to drown. But as we all know Batman’s rule, Bruce saved Steve from drowning. Captain America admitted defeat and Batman gracefully accepted.
You can find a lot of discussion on this fight as many see this fight as a tie and not a win for Batman. But I respectfully disagree. Batman is probably the best superhero who is always aware of his surrounding, he always uses this to his advantage and did it here again. So Batman is the clear winner for me. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they would go for another round. But that is impossible now as the rights of Marvel and DC are in different hands and it’s all about the money right?!
