Thanos Biography

Thanos Quest

Thanos is the ultimate villain that has appeared in Marvel comics and is considered to be one of their most powerful. The character first debuted back in 1973 when he was created by writer-artist Jim Starlin for Iron Man #55 (vol 1) which led him as an evil force against Tony Stark. Debuting in the Bronze Age of Comic Books, Thanos has featured in over four decades of Marvel series. He has also appeared in Marvel television series and movies. He is a frequent foe of the superhero team the Avengers and has been depicted variously as a supervillain and an antihero.

Captain Marvel: Powers & Abilities

Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) possesses superhuman strength and durability and is capable of flight. She eventually gained the ability to fire explosive energy bursts from her fists. In addition to these abilities, Captain Marvel has been trained in unarmed combat by both Captain America and Hawkeye. Captain Marvel wears a costume of synthetic stretch fabric lined with a steel-alloy mesh. She formerly carried an alien device called the Psyche-Magnitron, which allowed her to achieve various other energy-based effects such as projecting holographic illusions and creating interdimensional apertures through which she could travel. Captain Marvel is also an excellent tactician and strategist. She has on several occasions, effectively coordinated the superhero community in the battle against threats that no single hero could withstand. This was seen in her leadership of the Avengers for a time, and later with the Alpha Flight Space Program.

Thanos: Powers & Abilities

The Infinity Gauntlet would give Thanos strength and durability to rival that of Captain Marvel and since he’s far more intelligent and cunning than her, Thanos would most likely get the upper hand in a fight. He has no real weaknesses when in possession of the Infinity Gauntlet and when he used it during his first appearance, he easily defeated the likes of Adam Warlock, Silver Surfer and even the Avengers. The Infinity Gauntlet gives Thanos the power of time travel, telepathy, teleportation, energy projection and manipulation, matter transformation, size alteration, and the ability to alter reality. He has even shown that he can create something out of nothing and was able to trick Death into believing that he had killed the Avengers when in fact, he had sent them back in time, thereby destroying Death’s one quest in life to make Thanos miserable. Thanos was able to defeat a version of himself from the future as well as completely destroy the Marvel multiverse. In fact, he even restored Earth 2 with a snap of his fingers.

Captain Marvel Weakness

Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is vulnerable to a certain form of radiation that can penetrate the energy field surrounding her body. Also, when she uses her powers at their peak, she can drain the bioenergy from her body and enter a period of temporary weakness, during which she requires a period of recovery. Also, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) has been known to fluctuate in power levels, depending on her mental and physical health. As a result of this, she has had trouble controlling her power levels when she is not at peak physical and mental conditioning.

Thanos Weakness

Thanos is susceptible to psychic attacks. Also, when he uses the Infinity Gauntlet for too long or overuses its power, the gems will be drained of their imbuement and leave him in a weakened state. Other times, Thanos can be weakened when there is a lack of resources or some other obstacle that prevents him from using the Infinity Gauntlet. Thanos has also been known to be defeated by his inability to control the powers of the Infinity Gauntlet. Though he is an exceptionally powerful being in Marvel, he is often portrayed as ignorant of the sources of his own power, thus making it possible for others to exploit this weakness.

Captain Marvel vs. Thanos: Who is likely to Win

Based on the stats alone, Thanos is by far tougher than Captain Marvel. However, with enough outside help (such as Adam Warlock), it’s possible for Captain Marvel to hold her own against Thanos.

But in the end, I have to give this one to Thanos. He’s defeated Avengers, mutants, and cosmic beings. The only being Thanos hasn’t beaten is Galactus, but I’m sure he has the power to do so. Plus, Thanos is smarter than Captain Marvel, has more experience in battle and his power is far greater than hers. Captain Marvel would need outside help just to survive in this battle. Thanos could kill her without breaking a sweat.
