Gandalf Quotes

If you haven’t read or watched Lord of the Rings before, I envy you. You’re about to (hopefully) start an awesome adventure! The Lord Of The Rings has been one of my favorite movies / books since I can remember. Great quotes from this movie comes from none other than Gandalf himself, whose ability to understand human behavior rivals that of any other character in the movie.

If you don’t know who Gandalf is. Gandalf is a fictional character from the Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien and The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. He is the main protagonist of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series, and he was a powerful wizard.

It’s time to whip out that English Lit degree or just remember watching the movie growing up. Either way, let’s talk about my favorite quotes from Gandalf the Grey. Gandalf is my favorite Lord of the Rings character, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Below is a collection of my favorite Gandalf quotes from the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit:

It Is The Small Things, Everyday Deeds Of Ordinary Folk That Keeps The Darkness At Bay. Simple Acts Of Love And Kindness.

These days there are not many people who know exactly how to talk to and inspire people. But when you get right down to it it is the little things that really count. You see these little acts of kindness and compassion on the news every day. People willing to help strangers even when they don’t know them. People going the extra mile to show others how much they really care. A lot of these stories end up on social media with thousands of shares and likes. But what these people did everyday, was far more important. Many of these people are small for their age but they managed to inspire people all across the world with their acts of kindness and compassion. These small deeds keep the darkness at bay and allow us to see the shining examples of humanity behind every name.

True Courage Is Knowing Not When To Take A Life, But When To Spare One.

When the darkness surrounds us we must find our way to light. We choose not to look back or look away from danger because we know the consequences of holding back. We are inspired when we face challenges with confidence knowing that we have the strength within us to overcome any difficulty. When danger approaches, it is our tendency to look away from the danger in order to protect our loved ones and ourselves. But true courage knows no bounds. It comes not from restraining yourself in the face of danger, but encouraging yourself to overcome anything that stands in your way.

Death Is Just Another Path – One That We All Must Take.

This quote by J.R.R. Tolkien sums up the nature of life well. We all have our own plans and ambitions for the future, and many face obstacles in their path. Some are overcome by fear, others are satisfied with their lot in life and content with simply living in the moment. Still others make up their mind to move forward in spite of everything or anything.

All We Have To Do Is Decide What To Do With The Time That Is Given To Us.

Life is give and take. A little bit of everything will get you somewhere. A lot of nothing will. Every once in a while, when things look bleak, remind yourself that it could have been worse. There has to be hope. The trees will bend with the wind and the sea will salt the earth, but there must be hope. Hope is what keeps us going; it shall not be destroyed by darkness or fear.

Do Not Be Too Eager To Deal Out Death In Judgment.

The world is full of powerful and malicious creatures. One mistake can decide your fate. Make your own mistakes, but do not make them impulsively. Make them thoughtfully. Most importantly, when everything is said and done, remember that there is a time for silence and a time for speaking. A time for silence when your anger has been allowed to fester and when judgment has been passed. Those are the quiet moments that can lead to healing; those are the moments when all disputes can be laid at rest and true peace can be reached. Before you stand before your judge, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and think things through.

You Must Trust Yourself. Trust Your Own Strength.

The power of self-confidence is so great, it can completely transform your life. When you have the confidence that you can do something, anything, almost anything – you are free. The hardest part about being self confident is being true to yourself and trusting your own strength. Most of the time, we set goals and try to go after them relentlessly. But we don’t realize that often times we fail because we give up or take things lightly.

Even The Very Wise Cannot See All Ends.

The world is full of wonders and terrors. We can only guess at what lies ahead.

I Will Not Say Do Not Weep, For Not All Tears Are An Evil.

Tears are a natural part of life. Whether we are sad, smiling or sadder, we are tearful creatures. Sometimes we can’t control how our tears affect others around us. Sometimes we choose to control our emotions through reason.

The World Is Not In Your Books And Maps. It Is Out There.

The best way to learn is to get outside your comfort zone. This may be scary or intimidating at first but picking up a new skill or hobby is better when you are humble and have some encouragement. Pick something you are passionate about and see how you do without book or guide. The first step is doing something stupid like walking into a building without knowing what to expect. Once you have broken into the groove, you can discover new things about the world around you. The most amazing thing about learning is you never cease to grow.
