Scarlet Witch vs Captain Marvel

Both Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel are two leading female superheroes in the Marvel Universe. From their complex personal histories to their vast sets of powers, these two women are not only both powerful in their own right, but they are very much alike. However, even when looking at these two women side by side, it is hard to decide who would win in a fight. Both Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel have unique abilities that give them an edge over other heroes in their respective universes.

Scarlet Witch: Biography

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch, formally known as Wanda Maximoff, is a powerful witch who made her first comic book appearance in the 1963 issue of Uncanny X-Men #4. She was created by a collaboration between Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. She is said to be 5’7″ and weighs 130 pounds. Scarlet Witch was originally a mutant and a member of Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

She has a twin brother named Pietro Maximoff who goes by the name Quicksilver. Wanda Maximoff and her brother joined the Avengers lineup as they no longer agreed with Magneto’s philosophy about mutant supremacy. She often struggled to control her immense powers and would cause unintentional harm to numerous people, including the Avengers.

Captain Marvel: Biography

In addition to the colours red, blue, and gold, it also includes a helmet that transforms Carol’s long hair into a mohawk.

The numbers below come from Marvel.com so we did not make these up. We have added the sources at the bottom of the page.

Power Grids Compared

Durability: Scarlet Witch 2 vs Captain Marvel 6

The Scarlet Witch only received 2 points out of 7 for toughness, which makes sense. She is a superhero who isn’t superhuman, unlike the others. As a result, she lacks superhuman strength and endurance as well as the capacity to regenerate. She is just a human, yet she has incredible magical abilities, making her more than capable of taking on any foe. Although her power can keep her safe, she will be severely injured if she is hit.

Carol almost received the maximum score when it comes to Durability. The reason for this high number is actually twofold. Carol is considered to be a Human/Kree hybrid and is, therefore, able to withstand powerful attacks like being shot up close or even big blasts from other mutants and beings. Next to that, Carol also doesn’t age anymore as she possesses a very compelling regenerative ability which is even more powerful than one that Wolverine has. She can even increase her healing ability by absorbing different kinds of energy.

Energy: Scarlet Witch 6 vs Captain Marvel 6

In addition to her magic, Wanda has a great deal of personal energy, which she uses to augment her abilities. This explains why Marvel gave her a 6 out of a possible 7 stars. She may even use the energy she absorbs from others as a weapon or defense mechanism. There’s no such thing as a cap on what she can do with her magic. She’s capable of anything. Here are a few examples to get you started:

  • Creating force fields
  • Casting spells
  • Communicate with the dead
  • Create Magic Portals
  • Telekinesis and Telepathy
  • Manipulate time and teleport

As already stated above, Captain Marvel is an authority when it comes to managing energy. She can use almost all kinds of cosmic energy to her advantage. She can use it for healing purposes but also for matter manipulation. This means that she can control matter/energy and thus, she is able to manipulate matter and energy, reshaping things as she sees fit.

Fighting Skills: Scarlet Witch 3 vs Captain Marvel 4

Cap and Hawkeye have taught her close-combat abilities, but she will not be able to beat other superheroes merely on the basis of those talents. She’ll still be reliant on magic to keep her safe and do damage to her opponents.

Although Carol served in the military and is well-trained in the art of combat, fighting is not her strongest ability. She can stand her ground but she will always fall back on her energy superpowers as these are able to even take out the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe.

Intelligence: Scarlet Witch 3 vs Captain Marvel 3

Wanda’s IQ is rated as “average” by Marvel. They don’t consider her a genius, but her magic knowledge is almost limitless. In that regard, she is without rival.

Marvel has given Carol Danvers an average score when it comes to Intelligence and this makes sense. She does not have a genius intellect or is an all-knowing being. Please note that she does not have low intellect either. She is a very skilful pilot and has a strong scientific background.

Speed: Scarlet Witch 2 vs Captain Marvel 5

We’re intrigued by how low Scarlet Witch’s Speed score is. However, it makes sense since she lacks superhuman speed due to the fact that she is merely human, but her magic enables her to rapidly bridge the distance. She has the ability to teleport huge distances as well as little ones. It’s also worth noting that she’s capable of flying, which greatly boosts her speed.

Thanks to her ability to manipulate energy, she can fly throughout the whole universe. It has been stated that she can move at three times the speed of sound according to on what is written on Fandom.com.

Strength: Scarlet Witch 2 vs Captain Marvel 5

Wanda lacks physical strength, yet she can rely on her magic to get through when times are tough. She has the ability to use her spells and incantations to get things done.

In terms of physical strength, Carol is weak, but she can utilize her energy skills to move or endure almost anything she is put in contact with. She is capable of lifting 100 tons, according to the report. As a result, she lacks raw force talents, although she is still stronger than the ordinary person.

Conclusion

We are not going to lie that we would have expected some higher numbers for the Scarlet Witch. For Carol Danvers and her alter ego, we are completely aligned with Marvel. But we definitely disagree on the score of the Scarlet Witch.

But if we sum everything up, we see that the Scarlet Witch has a total score of 18 while Captain Marvel scored a 29 out of 42. So based on the Marvel power grid, the Scarlet Witch wouldn’t stand a chance against the all-powerful Captain Marvel.
